Santa Clara, Calif., February 24, 2011 – Digital Lumens, developer of the industry’s first Intelligent Lighting System, today announced that its Midbay fixture is the only “Recognized Winner” in the Industrial Category of the Next Generation Luminaires competition. The awards were announced at the Strategies in Light Conference, one of the leading LED-focused events. Digital Lumens had the highest efficacy of any LED-based indoor product.
Jointly organized by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the program is part of a broad initiative to advance solid-state lighting technology and adoption. Honored for the second consecutive year, Digital Lumens is one of 33 companies to be recognized among the 140 submissions reviewed.
“By integrating LEDs and controls, Digital Lumens’s products are designed to support our customers’ strong commitment to energy efficiency, operational excellence and sustainability,” said Tom Pincince, Digital Lumens’ President and CEO. “We are pleased to be recognized by the NGL committee again this year as we continue to set industry-wide benchmarks for lighting energy efficiency in industrial environments.”
Digital Lumens submitted its Midbay Intelligent Light Engine (ILE) for NGL consideration. Like the Digital Lumens Highbay ILE, also part of the Intelligent Lighting System, the Midbay integrates LEDs, sensors, controls and intelligence to maximize energy efficiency. The Midbay ILEs are designed for manufacturing and other open environments – bulk storage, non-racked storage, and warehouse docks – with ceiling heights between 15 and 30 feet. The Digital Lumens Midbay Intelligent Light Engines produce uniform light distribution and are designed as one-for-one upgrades of existing HID/HIF fixtures. They feature:
* System-wide intelligence that manages lighting system behavior, gathers system data, and provides unmatched operational insight and control;
* Diffuse light distribution with two color-temperature options – a 4000K ‘neutral white’, optimized for manufacturing and production line work, or a 6500K ‘cool white’ option for environments that require more intense illumination;
* Maximum amount of light for the minimum amount of power, providing significant energy savings; and
* Both standardized and customizable operations reports, via a web interface, showing fixture-, zone- or room-level energy use and occupancy, and other key information that is valuable for facility management and measurement and verification.
