Billerica, Massachusetts―May 19, 2009 – Luminus Devices today announced that it has received a Technical Innovation Award for its PhlatLight® SST-90-W LED. The Technical Innovation Award, which was announced at the LFI Innovation Awards ceremony last week at LightFair International, recognizes the most significant advances in lighting technology and was awarded by a judging panel of well-known lighting professionals.

“It is an honor for Luminus Devices’ PhlatLight SST-90-W LED to be recognized as one of the most forward-thinking advancements in lighting technology,” said Peter Weller, General Manager of the Lighting Business at Luminus Devices. “The SST-90 is in a class of its own by delivering as much as 2250 lumens from a single source. Our mission is to improve lighting through advanced LED technology for applications requiring high output and this award recognizes the importance of this effort.”

The SST-90 LED is a large-chip white LED in a new SMT package that combines the benefits of high power and efficiency, enabling lighting fixture OEMs to replace conventional bulbs and multiple LED arrays with a single PhlatLight LED. For LED customers, this results in simplified designs, lower costs and faster time-to-market.

Luminus Devices and the other LightFair Innovation winners were recognized at LightFair International, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, NY, on May 5, 2009. The Awards ceremony honored industry innovations of the latest lighting-related products and designs introduced in the past 12 months.
